FAQ

What should I do if I think I need braces?

Just come in for a FREE INITIAL EXAM.

For children, what is the best age to start?

Any time is right for a free initial exam. Children should see an Orthodontic Specialist by age 7. Some will not need anything. Some will benefit from very minor treatment. A recall appointment may be scheduled for the future.

There is NO CHARGE for recall appointments.

How much will braces cost?

You will receive a fee quote at the free initial exam. There are no add-on costs once a fee is quoted. Fees are reasonable and tailored to your particular case. Flexible payment plans are always available.

What if I have orthodontic insurance?

Insurance plans are accepted in our office. We will file your dental insurance claims for you. Also, we can advise you on setting up a “Flexible Benefits Plan” or using one you already have.

If braces are needed, what comes next?

Next is a DIAGNOSTIC RECORDS APPOINTMENT. Records include a clinical examination, dental and medical history, photographs of the face and mouth, a head x-ray and full mouth x-rays. Sometimes models of the teeth and jaws are also needed.

Dr. Droel studies all this information and works up an individualized treatment plan. Each patient needs a special treatment tailored to his or her facial contours and proportions.

How long will treatment take?

Treatment time averages 20 to 26 months depending on the age of the patient, the difficulty of the treatment plan, and the cooperation of the patient. Dr. Droel will give you an estimate of the time needed for your particular case and keep you advised on your progress.

How often will I come to the office?

We typically schedule an adjustment every 5-8 weeks.

What training does my Orthodontist have?

Dr. Droel is an Orthodontic Specialist with a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics, having completed 2 years of full-time graduate training in addition to earning his 4-year D.D.S. degree.

Dr. Droel is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). This assures you that your orthodontist is FULLY CERTIFIED and has met the highest standards of education and experience.

I know I’ll have more questions...

Of course! Many of them will be answered in the detailed written instructions you’ll receive when treatment starts. And we want you to feel free to discuss any concerns you have with Dr. Droel or a member of our staff at any time during treatment.
